Blackout Productions are delighted to announce their performance of SWEENEY TODD: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, a Sondheim fan-favourite, gripping musical that tells the unsettling tale of a Victorian-era barber seeking revenge on the corrupt judge who ruined his life. The show, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler, is undoubtedly one of the most iconic musicals around, and we are delighted to have Susie Dumbreck's talent and vision to bring the tale to life.
The story revolves around Sweeney Todd, a barber who returns to London after years of exile to seek vengeance. When his quest for revenge fails, he embarks on a murderous spree, while his business associate, Mrs. Lovett, turns the victims into meat pies sold to the unsuspecting public
Exploring themes of revenge, obsession, and the depths of human nature, the plot delves into the emotional and psychological depths of its characters, presenting Sweeney Todd as both a victim and a perpetrator in the "great black pit" of humanity.
